Most founders check their bank balance more often than they'd like to admit. Usually it's a tab that stays open, or a quick peek at the banking app between meetings. The problem is that a bank balance without context doesn't tell you much. You know how much is there, but not why it changed, or what's coming.
Starting today, Financica can send you a weekly summary every Monday morning that covers the basics:
- Your current cash balance and how it moved compared to last week
- Top outflows -- the five largest debits from your bank accounts
- Top inflows -- the five largest credits
- Outstanding invoices -- how many are unpaid, how many are overdue
It's a short email. No charts, no twelve-page PDF. Just the numbers you'd look up anyway, delivered before your first coffee.
Why Monday
We considered daily, but daily reports train you to ignore them. Weekly hits a better balance: enough time has passed for the numbers to be meaningful, and Monday is when most people plan their week. If you're about to approve a big expense or follow up on a late payment, it helps to start with a snapshot.
The report goes out at 7:00 UTC, which is early morning in Europe and late evening Sunday in the US. Adjust your expectations based on your timezone.
Setting it up
Go to Settings > User and scroll down to the Notifications section. Check the box next to Weekly cash report and save.
The report is sent to your account email address. If you belong to multiple organizations, you get one report per organization. Each team member can decide individually whether they want the report or not.
That's it. No configuration beyond the toggle. The report uses your organization's default currency and pulls from whatever bank accounts are connected.
What it looks like
The email has a clean layout that works in any mail client. The cash balance is front and center with a green or red indicator showing the weekly change. Below that, your top transactions are listed with descriptions and amounts. If you have any unpaid outbound invoices, those show up at the bottom with a count and total.
There's a link to your Financica dashboard if you want to dig deeper into anything.
Turning it off
Same place you turned it on. Go to Settings > User > Notifications, uncheck the box, save, and the emails stop. No unsubscribe link gymnastics.
What's next
This is the first automated report we're shipping, and it's deliberately simple. We're paying attention to what people actually read and act on before adding more. If there's a number you wish was in the report, or a different cadence that would work better for your team, we'd like to hear about it.
The weekly cash report is available now for all plans.
