Connecting Eventbrite

Book your Eventbrite ticket sales, refunds and fees in Financica automatically.

2 min read

If you sell tickets through Eventbrite, Financica can book every order and refund for you, and keep track of the money Eventbrite holds until it pays you out.

How to connect

  1. Go to Data Sources > Other sources.
  2. Find Eventbrite under "Connect a data source" and click Connect.
  3. You are redirected to Eventbrite to allow Financica access to your account.
  4. If your Eventbrite login manages several organizations, choose the one whose ticket sales belong in these books.

Eventbrite does not offer read-only access, so the permission you grant is broad. Financica only reads your orders and events, and registers one notification so new orders arrive straight away. It never changes your events or tickets.

What gets booked

  • Each paid order becomes one entry on the order date: the ticket price as Eventbrite ticket sales, and the money Eventbrite collected for you on an Eventbrite balance account.
  • Each refunded ticket becomes its own entry that reverses the sale.
  • Fees. When your buyers pay Eventbrite's fee on top of the ticket price (Eventbrite's default), the fee is theirs and stays out of your books. When you absorb the fee into the price, it is booked as an expense on Eventbrite fees.
  • Free orders are not booked.

How the Eventbrite balance works

Eventbrite pays you a few days after each event. When that payout reaches your bank account, categorize it to Eventbrite balance. Once every event has been paid out, the balance reads zero.

A balance that does not return to zero points at something to check: an event that has not been paid out yet, or a charge Eventbrite took from your payouts (shown under Finance > Charges & Credits in Eventbrite).

Good to know

  • New orders and refunds arrive within moments; Financica also checks for changes every hour, and you can sync from the integration page.
  • The first sync books your whole order history.
  • Eventbrite's payout statements are not available to apps. You can download them from Finance > Payouts in Eventbrite and attach them to the payout in your bank transactions.
